‘Medically Appropriate'

Obama's proposed health care plan is probably going to include taxpayer funded sex-change surgeries and abortions on demand.

Read the full House version of the bill (H.R. 3200) HERE. (you may want to have a lawyer friend interpret it for you and a large pot of coffee...)
Read about proposed sex-change surgeries and abortions as part of the bill HERE.
I have only one question for all of you to answer:
Why can't we have free "medically appropriate" surgeries such as a heart or kidney transplant, bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) or free high-tech prosthetics for our injured soldiers overseas to be included in the health care bill? How is a sex-change or an abortion more important than the other aforementioned surgeries?????

It isn’t. In fact I don’t believe anyone except the soldiers who have put their lives on the line so we all may continue to exercise the freedoms we hold dear is “deserving” of any public paid medical surgery. I believe that once a person has dedicated a portion of their life to preserving the liberties that the constitution demands should have any medical attention they desire at taxpayer expense. For everyone else… get a job.

Ken,

(Hallelujah song playing in background)

COULD IT BE??!! Could I actually AGREE with you??!! Are all the stars in the Milky Way aligned??!!

Yeah, our soldiers who are sacrificing their lives for you and I to express our opinions is good enough reason to give them EVERYTHING free when they return home.

As for other special interest groups...get a LIFE!!!

Just out of curiosity, what do you think about abortion??

Abortion should be legal, but I don’t believe there should be taxpayer funded abortions unless a sex crime victim’s attacker is not found. Then I wouldn’t mind paying for such an abortion. But I don’t feel the need to take my hard earned dollars and pay for birth control for the masses. People should take responsibility for their actions, whether or not their actions result in something unforeseen.

“…give them EVERYTHING free when they return home.”

No, not everything. We should pay for any medical expense and rehabilitation including those suffering from any psychological difficulties. Our soldiers and their families should receive ANYTHING they need during that time of rehab. Modest housing, food expenses (in cash), utilities, transportation expenses and all the other things as well. The soldier’s spouse should not have to worry about an occupation; the support for their loved one (gay or straight) should be their primary concern. Once that soldier is rehabilitated they can either continue their career or move on to the private sector. But until the day they die I am more than willing to continue providing any expenses for housing and medical care for them and their immediate families within reason. I don’t feel responsible to provide them with a million dollar house and other luxuries. If they want those luxuries they should do that themselves.

Ken,

You believe innocent babies should be slaughtered for the sake of the mother's "choice"?

Out of curriosity, how did you come about your position on abortion?

When does a clump of cells become a “baby”? As a Christian how did you come to the conclusion that anyone is “innocent”? I thought Christians believed we are all corrupt?

“Out of curriosity, how did you come about your position on abortion?”

I grew up in the Reagan era. I saw the huge protests outside abortion clinics. I’ve seen how the “Pro-Life” organizations would accost women entering the doctor’s offices and call those women “murderers” when those protesters had no clue as to why the women were going there in the first place. The manager of a place I worked at was so excited when she found out she was pregnant she glowed for a week. Something with the pregnancy started going wrong and her doctor had told her that if she did not get an abortion before the 3rd trimester neither she nor the child would survive. On her way into the clinic for what had to be the most heart wrenching decision she was forced to make a bag of dog excrement was thrown at her. She was screamed at and told how she was evil. She ran back to her car and cried for half an hour. She then had to endure another week of this child she knew was killing the both of them until she could get another appointment. The way those people acted set my position. Since that time it has only hardened as I KNOW that abortions are sad, but necessary. If abortions are ever made illegal again it will not end abortion. Women will still get them but the conditions will worsen. They’ll be forced into the back alleys instead of doctor’s offices. I don’t like abortion. I wish we could live in a world where they weren’t necessary; but we don’t. Abortions will only stop when people stop making mistakes and women cannot be raped.

One more thing… HOW DARE YOU? HOW DARE YOU TRY AND BOIL DOWN THIS HEARTBREAKING OF ISSUES AND CALL IT SIMPLY A WOMEN’S “CHOICE”? IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE AND IF YOU DON’T KNOW IT GROW UP AND PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR A**! And don’t try to goad me into a position like that again… it should be beneath you.

Ken,

I would like to address your ending statement:

"One more thing…"

Ken, I simply asked a question in which you did NOT have to answer. I am truely sorry if this issue of abortion is a personal one for you and if I knew that I would of NEVER asked you a question regarding it.

I have a dear friend whom had an abortion, for the WRONG reasons, with her previous boyfriend and I NEVER...NEVER...bring up the hot political topic of abortion with her...NEVER!!!! She knows my position that children should not be killed because a women simply does not want to bear a child, in which was the case with my friend.

If a women were raped, or in the case of your story, if the mother and the child are going to die if birth is given then abortion should be neccessary. This I agree with you.

I think it is OVER-THE-TOP that the protestors threw crap at the women when she was trying to see her doctor. Just for the good reason you bring up, that people don't know why women enter the abortion clinics, you will never see me protesting in front of an abortion clinic.

Hope everything is well and we can continue to engage in dialog. In the future please let me know if a question is too private or personal or close to your heart to answer. This blog does not get its kicks off of pissing people off. It only wants to engage in civil discourse with a little sarcasm ;)

Thanks Ken,

Scia; abortion is not that personal to me. I’ve never gotten a woman pregnant and my wife has never had an abortion. Your question: “You believe innocent babies should be slaughtered for the sake of the mother's "choice"?” is filled with venom regardless of whether you mean for it to be there or not. The question alone stirs emotion. If you truly wished to know my answer without stirring up emotions your question should be phrased: Do you honestly believe abortion which I equate with murder should be a choice?. That could get you more of a conversation than a fight.

“This blog does not get its kicks off of pissing people off. It only wants to engage in civil discourse with a little sarcasm ;)”

Cool; I like a little sarcasm.
