Kern's Comments Create Controversy

An Oklahoma state representative has received thousands of hostile e-mail messages after she said that homosexuality is a bigger threat to national security than terrorism.

Although I think Rep. Kern's comments suggesting that homosexuality is more dangerous than terrorism is a little bit over the top, the representative is correct in suggesting that homosexuality is a dangerous behavior. The way in which she articulated this thought could be a career ending move.
"According to God's word, that is not the right kind of lifestyle," Rep. Kern said in her speech.
That is a little more like it!!
What do you all think of Rep. Kern's comments and do you think they deserve all of the threatening e-mail responses?
P.S. Sorry for not being around to respond to your comments or post any news stories. I was very sick with the flu for the past two weeks, but I am feeling better now and ready to spread the truth again.
Thanks for your patience.

Should I have expected anything less from Kern? Idiotic comments coming from an idiot.

“…the representative is correct in suggesting that homosexuality is a dangerous behavior”

I’ve never felt any fear because of homosexuality, must not be that dangerous.

"According to God's word, that is not the right kind of lifestyle,"

Who cares? I don’t live my life in a manner according to god’s word and refuse to apologize for it. Any and all of “god’s” words should be removed from law. Prove god exists and then you can put god’s word in the law until then god is mythology.

Ken,

Do you think that the Bible is nothing but a myth and what lead you to your opinion?

No, the bible is real, I can see and touch a bible, but the stories written on its pages are mythological. Like the woman turning into salt and the man sitting inside a whale’s stomach or even when Moses was battling the people of the Amalek; when he raised his hands Israel would start to win and when he lowered them they would start to lose, so a couple of guys had to hold Moses’ hands up because he got tired. Do those stories seem realistic?

“…what lead you to your opinion?”

Logic; I have a terrible time believing a man with superhuman strength lost all that strength when he got a haircut.

Sorry to hear you were sick. That flu is awful this year. AHd it myself back in January.

I believe there is no proof Kern received "threating" e-mails. Angry and hostile maybe, but not threatening. An investigation into the e-mails showed no actual threats.

I do believe her ill-informed bigoted rant deserved the response it is getting. At least she had the backbone to stand behind her statements, and not make excuses. She gets a few points as a political person for that. This does not excuse her though, and it should bring about the end of her in politics.

Scia, how can you call yourself a Christian and not know the bible well at all? Haven’t you ever heard of Samson, the guy who killed a bunch of soldiers with the jawbone of an ass? They got a woman named Delilah to find out the secret to his great strength which Samson told her was his long hair. Well they gave him a haircut and he lost that strength until his hair grew back.
